Flower Angel Rock Stars on a mission!

This has been an exciting, busy week for Flower Angels. Since May we have delivered close 1700 bouquets. Flowers + Flower Angels = Many Happy People!

On Tuesday Mara, Suzanne and Karen were interviewed on Cape Cod Broadcasting to be aired on 4 stations on the Sunday Morning Journal.

Mara was so thrilled to meet and hug all of her favorite radio personalities. We were grateful to have been invited to spread the word about Flower Angels USA’s mission. It was an exciting morning!

Thursday evening David Roth, an amazingly talented musician hosted the Full Moon Open Mic night at the Harwich Community Center. The money collected benefitted Flower Angels USA. The many awesome musicians and poets were enjoyable including our very own Alan Ginsberg! We are grateful for David’s kindness and everyone’s support of our mission.

Friday night Flower Angel Suzanne was the guest speaker at the Friday Club in Yarmouthport. This incredible philanthropic organization of women with exceptional skills has been in operation since 1901, long before women were allowed to purchase property! Many people wonder what this small historical white house on route 6A with a sign Friday Club is and so did we. Then one fine day at a We Can benefit Anne, a delightful woman and Friday Club member, invited us to attend their dinner and be the guest speaker. Suzanne was thrilled to share a few hours with a lovely group of dedicated women who help many others on Cape Cod.

All you need is love…

Flower Angels have delivered random acts of love to more than 1500 patients. Our mission of bringing a ray of sunshine to people who are alone is a huge success.
Thanks to our generous floral providers including brides, Trader Joes and Whole Foods, Flower Angels is blooming! Our awesome extraordinary team: Kathleen, Ro, Irene, Mara, Kevin, Daivi, the 3 Karens, Luanne, Betsy, Bonnie, Sandy, Catherine, Gail, Geri, Gene & Rich, Cheri, Wally Ann, Patty and our awesome Community Connection flower collectors make our beautiful, much needed, mission possible.
Last week one patient was especially delighted by receiving flowers on what just happened to be her birthday. She said she couldn’t remember the last time she received flowers. We want to thank the activities department in the many facilities we visit that take their time and make the effort to help us distribute the beautiful bouquets that bring much joy to their patients.
David Roth, a well known, talented musician, is hosting a Full Moon open mic event at the Harwich Community Center on July 10 at 7 PM that will benefit Flower Angels. We are grateful for his generosity and hope it will be well attended. On Tuesday we will be interviewed by Cape Cod Broadcasting, the owner of multiple popular Cape-wide radio stations. We are very excited about this opportunity to spread the word.
Love,
Suzanne and Karen

Flowers + Flower Angels = 1062 smiles delivered on Cape Cod!

Flower Angels are illuminating Cape Cod…one bouquet and one smile at a time!

Know what sparks the light in you . Then use that light to illuminate the world. ~ Oprah

Flower Angels USA has been blessed with having wonderful young men and woman from Community Connections, our local day program, volunteer to pick up the flowers donated from Trader Joes. They arrived in a wheel chair van filled to the brim with flowers and smiles from ear to ear. We all are delighted to have our new Flower Angel collectors helping to fulfill our mission. We send you a GIANT HUG and a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has been helping including the drivers. We welcome and thank Kevin, our vase engineer, for the awesome job he did washing and putting away 137 vases on his very first day of work! He never stopped working or smiling. What a joy to have this wonderful man on our Flower Angel team. Flower Angel, Mara, made 12 beautiful bouquets this week and delivered. She loves deconstructing and arranging flowers and is an inspiration to all of us. We love you, Mara! One of our goals for Flower Angels USA is to provide paid positions in a loving, supportive environment for our special young adults. Everything we had imagined is coming to fruition so quickly which is exciting to witness. We expect there are many more unknown blessings on their way to us.

Because more volunteers are finding us and loving our mission, we were able to cheerfully deliver to six facilities this week including Eagle Pond, Mayflower, Pleasant Bay, EPOCH Brewster, Thirwood Place and Mashpee Center nursing home facilities—200+ smiles! Divia, one of our newest Flower Angels jumped in and instantly was a tremendous help in our workshop. She loves delivering to the patients and we are grateful to have her shining face in our midst.

We received several lovely notes including:

“Hello to the Flower Angels. You brought so much joy to all of us in EPOCH of Harwich. Flowers will do that! Thank you to Trader Joes also for donating these beautiful flowers. I wish I still had my house in West Dennis. I would donate all of the beautiful flowers we grew to you. God Bless” Eileen S.

“We love the Flower Angels. They make us happy.” Cindy M.

Our hearts are smiling…

The Dali Lama once told us that our purpose in life is to be happy. But, the only way we can be truly happy is to serve others.

I thought about this many times through out the years. Many people feel an emptiness in their hearts but have no idea how to change that. We invite them to experience time in our workshop with our wonderful Flower Angels volunteers and deliver flowers to those in nursing homes who have never had a visitor. Their hearts will be full very quickly!

Sadly, the patients in nursing homes are there because life offered no other options. When the Flower Angels arrive with cart loads of amazing, brilliantly colored flowers, many are so happy and can’t believe they were delivered to the right room. We read the flower card…”This bouquet was made especially for you.” They are so surprised and grateful. They love to know the recycled and repurposed flowers were generously donated from the beautiful weddings at Wychmere Beach Club, Chatham Bars Inn, Wequassett Inn, Ocean Edge Resort and that Trader Joes has been a wonderful floral partner to Flower Angels USA’s mission. Some staff, patients and our new volunteers are so touched their eyes fill with tears. Everyone who delivers bouquets cannot help but be touched deeply. Although we keep our cheery smiles, hearts break each time we think society has all but forgotten our elderly people who have so many stories and so much to teach us. And then we are reminded of how Flower Angels USA must be in the flow of Divine Grace because it was instantly successfully just delivering random acts of love to many. Only weeks ago we were buying flowers and vases…and now we have an abundance of many things we need donated. Wonderful volunteers are finding us…and loving the mission. Our hearts are smiling every day. It’s challenging using so many cars to pick up and deliver flowers and lugging many heavy boxes of flowers is difficult but we know we are involved in an important mission. We keep the faith that a blessing of a van is on it’s way!

In the past week, we have delivered smiles galore to Beacon Hospice, The Pavillion, Eagle Pond, Mayflower Place and Thirwood Place.

Flower Angels USA on a mission….delivering joy to others! Our hearts are smiling.

We received a beautiful card from one of our incredible volunteers:

“Thank you for sharing your mission with me! What a fabulous feeling to bring a smile to the faces of so many. I’m so blessed to have you in my life! I can’t tell you how full my heart is on my first day of my new mission of joining Flower Angels! My heart is overflowing with love, goodness and happiness because of you.” Much love, Ro

I met this amazing woman in a yoga class. Our teacher ends each session by asking the group to share happy news. Of course, I can’t wait to share a story about Flower Angels USA! I mentioned that we had an abundance of flowers and vases donated to us but were desperate for volunteers. Ro immediately came to me and asked about Flower Angels USA. After showing her our brochure, she immediately followed me to the workshop and dove in! Although she had never done flower arranging before (neither have most of us) she whipped out many gorgeous bouquets. Not only is she a creative flower arranger, she is also a talented photographer and captures our very busy workshop in action. We are so blessed and grateful to have her on our team and send a BIG HUG to Ro!

Last week we delivered a whopping 192 bouquets! Flower Angels USA is blooming!

Thanks to an awesome team of volunteers on a mission and generous brides, venues and Trader Joes, Flower Angels USA is growing with leaps and bounds.

We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to our three newlywed couples who donated all of their spectacular flower and centerpieces. When I first walked in and saw so many magnificent flowers, it took my breath away. And then we got to work carrying them to the SUV. It took three trips back and forth to our workshop to get them all there. This was a blessing because recently we were told that many nursing home budgets for flower arranging had been eliminated a year or so ago. Alzheimer’s patients love arranging flowers and it is very therapeutic for them. We took several of this centerpieces and a box of smaller vases to one of the nursing homes. Everyone was delighted. Our next mission will be to seek plastic vases as this is what is needed for the Alzheimer’s units.

Brides + Weddings = Happy Flower Angels

This last week, Flower Angels had two incredibly busy days arranging and delivering flowers to Spaulding Rehab, Windsor Nursing Home and Pleasant Bay Nursing home. We were up to our ears in flowers that were generously donated by Trader Joes. We want to thank three newly married couples who donated their wedding flowers to us. Most of us focus on ourselves at a wedding event, but these folks choose to give their flowers to our nursing home residents. Many thanks and congratulations on your marriage!!!!

Our volunteers are developing their own personal style. Ro has a love and a flair for creating beautiful arrangements in our colored vases. She collected them off of our shelves, stored them behind her and was creating and creating at a terrific rate.

Kathleen has broken out of traditional arrangements and has moved on to gorgeous big bouquets. One looked like an alien being, with antennas . A novel approach to using tall irises.

Suzanne worked tirelessly rearranging our shelves of over 2000 vases, while Karen wrapped and loaded the arrangements for delivery.

Bonnie worked at a peaceful pace and her flowers reflected beauty and harmony, while our newest angel, Betsy fit right in and declared that she was going to bring her mother soon.

Karen D., who is helping in our office (bless her heart) said afterward that she “had a blast”.

Mara, Suzanne’s daughter found that she can create with the rest of us and we are all so proud of her!!!!!

Flower Angels is lifting off and delivering to so many residents of nursing homes and hospice centers. We are delivering smiles and uplifting spirits and love what we are doing. Thank you to everyone involved!

Flower Angels at work with the “soul” intention of delivering sunshine and floral love to patients…

Smiles and laughter filled our workshop as our volunteers extraordinaire donned their Flower Angel aprons and went to work creating many magnificent bouquets. The glorious flowers were donated from a Wychmere Beach Club wedding and our generous floral partner,Trader Joes. Our newest Flower Angel Irene is 89 years young and is delighted to dedicate her time to helping others. As soon as she heard about Flower Angel’s mission, she immediately called to volunteer. We are thrilled to have her as part of our awesome team! Thank you Karen L., Lou Ann, Kathleen, Ro and Irene for donating your time. Working together flowed beautifully with amazing results—oneness in action!

Our tremendously successful vase drive has been nothing short of a miracle. Several weeks ago we only had a few vases on our many empty shelves. Now, thanks to churches including the Unity Church in Hyannis and Our Lady of Victory in Centerville, the Hyannis Rotary Club members and individuals throughout the Cape, we now have in excess of 1200 and more are coming in each day! We are so grateful for every one who has called, stopped by and give special thanks to Rev Marie of the St. Mary of Magdala Church in Harwichport who orchestrated a labyrinth walk that collected a whopping nearly 200 vases! Flower Angels USA is in the flow of Divine Grace and we are so grateful to have blessings pouring down on this much needed mission. We are sending HUGE HUGS to our supporters, Rev. Dave and members of the West Dennis Community Church who are always kind and helpful.

Love, Suzanne, Karen & Mara

Donation received from Jakarta, Indonesia! Our Flower Angel volunteer testimonial…

“GRACE, our Flower Angel mascot, has taken on a life of her own. We all love her. She is climbing into everyone’s heart. GRACE is magical. She makes us feel good and she is inspiring others and that feeling is exponential and contributes to the critical mass. People need something to feel good about and GRACE certainly accomplishes that. We think she is wonderful and so will everyone else. All this energy from everone loving GRACE is contributing to planetary momentum and is already rippling out. We can feel it. It’s like she represents all of us. Most people want to do good - they just don’t know how to do it. So we are giving them a way to do it.”

Love and blessings Patricia N.

Flower Angels USA on a mission—-delivering 160 bouquets and smiles to many!

This week our Flower Angel USA workshop was booming! Our loyal and awesome floral partner,Trader Joes, donated a ton of flowers. Our dedicated and extraordinary volunteers picked up, arranged and delivered a whopping 160 gorgeous “Made Especially For You” bouquets to several nursing homes including Rosewood Manor in Harwich, Mayflower in Yarmouth, Epoch Brewster and Epoch Harwich. This random act of floral love brought sunshine and delight to many.

Sadly, statistics reveal that 85% of patients in nursing homes nationwide receive few, if any, visitors. 60% of people have never received one visitor. Many of our elderly have been forgotten by society. Flower Angels USA’s mission is to change that—one bouquet at a time!

You can make a difference! Could you spare an hour of your week to volunteer? There are many tasks to do and no experience is required. You’ll work with wonderful people and have your heart filled with love knowing you are helping uplift spirits of so many lonely people. Flower Angel, Karen K. drives from New Bedford weekly to deconstruct and arrange gorgeous bouquets. Florists, such as Karen, Faith and Abigail volunteer and provide useful tips that help volunteers create more beautiful bouquets. Kathleen T., our recently retired school principal, has been amazing! Ro, our retired nurse, yogi and newest creative Flower Angel jumped in and made magnificent bouquets. Paul, our Rotarian Flower Angel volunteer, led a vase drive with the Hyannis Rotary Club and has collected close to 200 vases already. Without being asked, he pitched in and washed a ton of vases this week! We send A GIANT HUG to you, Paul for all you do! Our youngest “Founder” Flower Angel, Mara, worked diligently with her job coach deconstructing, making floral arrangements then delivered them and took photos. Thank you, Mara and all of our wonderful Flower Angel USA team!

Suzanne and Karen send much love to our extraordinary volunteers.
