A beautiful voice message recently received from an elderly man at EPOCH Brewster nursing home:

“Dear Flower Angels…thank you for sending us a lovely bouquet of flowers from Flower Angels. Since I don’t have a car and I don’t have postage, I am giving you a call. Our flowers are just lovely and I am going to take good care of them. My family haven’t sent me flowers and my friends haven’t sent me flowers so this is very special…very special. Flower Angels USA…..thank you.”

Along with a beautiful floral arrangement, the Flower Angels bring a moment of kindness and a lot of sunshine to lonely patients in the nursing homes throughout the Cape. There was not a dry eye in our workshop last week when we played this message for all of the Flower Angel volunteers to hear how much their hard work is truly appreciated. Each and every heart string was tugged by this grateful dear man’s voice who took the time and obviously an incredible amount of energy to call and express his sincere gratitude.

We welcome new Flower Angels to gather with us on Thursday 10:30 AM to 1 PM to deconstruct and repurpose flowers while meeting new, wonderful friends. No experience is required. Currently our Monday, Tuesday and Friday slots are filled to capacity.

On Thursday our flower arrangement artist, Strell, appeared with her 4H club and they all went to work making gorgeous arrangements. It was wonderful to have such awesome young ladies in our workshop helping to serve others. Not only did smiles fill the room but their arrangements were outstanding and loved by the patients in several nursing homes. Thank you ladies for coming to help us. We sure hope you will return soon.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donation of $5000 toward our Flower Angel van and your kind acknowledgment of our mission. We are delighted to partner with the Hyannis Rotary Club and will be proud to prominently display your wonderful organization on our van. Thanks to you, it will be more efficient, less costly and easier to expand our mission to deliver random acts of love to more people on Cape Cod.

To date we have delivered nearly 6600 bouquets to lonely people in 23 facilities, bringing smiles, a moment of kindness and a ray of sunshine to many. Our Cape Abilities and Community Connection Flower Angel delivery assistant teams accompany us on our multiple bi-weekly visits and are delighted to be bringing joy to others. It’s especially rewarding knowing so many people feel someone cares about them. Many of the patients in nursing homes have never had a visitor and the majority have never received flowers in their entire life. Sadly, there is an over-abundance of isolated and very lonely people on Cape Cod. Flower Angels are helping to decrease loneliness…one bouquet at a time.

Acts of kindness makes us feel good, valuable and alive. Think about the last time you went out of your way to be kind to someone. Didn’t it make your day too? Many people extend kindness as part of their good nature, but what if we made a more conscious effort to be even kinder by practicing kindness regularly? We will be spreading good feelings and making a difference that has a lasting, ripple effect and undoubtedly changing the world.

Here is Suzanne in seventh heaven receiving a $1600 donation from Bonnie Peterson, a member of the 100 Women Who Care wonderful charitable organization. Four times annually a group of kind woman get together, each put in $50 and give it to a worthy charity. We are blessed and so grateful to be the lucky recipients of this generous donation to support our mission.
